Smart Betsy Failed to Run with Rockstar Image

Hyped duo Smart Betsy and Rockstar Image were expected to run together and contend for superiority last Monday night at Wenthworth Park. Supposedly, the two were up for a face off in the Nice Products Stake over 520 metres.

Punters anticipated an exciting showdown from the two however, they were deprived of it as the Nowra greyhound Smart Betsy was scratched on the race day. Punters were disappointed, and so as trainer Nick Healey who hoped to see Rockstar Image beating Smart Betsy at Wenthworth Park.

It was expected that the box draw will make Rockstar Image the marginal favourite for he must get the gun run out wide while Smart Betsy early on will have some traffic troubles.

Also, the event was expected to be loud as western region will surely be cheering on Rockstar Image while the south coast has there own Smart Betsy. Western region has been supporting Rockstar Image because of his interesting debut win at Bathurst and also of his good record with four wins on end which now includes the huge win at Gosford on a wet track. While the south coast for Smart Betsy, most likely because she have had the world at her paws at one significant event. Betsy is a 16 length winner in a heat of the Laurie Healion Maiden Series. She stopped the clock at 30.18 seconds on a heavy track and remained undefeated throughout the series, winning the final in 30.00 run time.

If Smart Betsy wasn’t only scratched, and she was able to run with Rockstar Image at the track, Monday night at Wenthworth could have been wilder and noisier. Hopefully, there’ll be another chance for them run together and compete at the track. Punters are surely waiting for that another chance.

Punters Failed to See Who’s the Best Between Smart Betsy and Rockstar Image

Punters were deprived of a showdown and they actually failed to see who’s the best between Bathurst star Rockstar Image and Nowra greyhound Smart Betsy, with the latter being scratched on Monday, the racing day. Though Nick Healey was happy with the win of his Rockstar Image in 10 3/4 length romp in the 3/4th Grade ‘Nice Products Stake’ at Wentworth Park last Monday, he was a bit disappointed not to see Rockstar Image running with Smart Betsy.

“I wanted to see just how good our dog (Rockstar Image) really is. He’s raced against good dogs before but I just want to see if he’s up to that class,” Nick said. Nick badly wants to see if Rockstar Image could beat the Nowra greyhound.

On the lighter side, Nick is still up to bringing Rockstar Image to Gosford Gold Cup later this month. But he still wants Rockstar Image to be checked. He was underwhelmed by Rockstar Image’s 30.18 finishing time. He said, “I thought he might have gone a little faster than that. They reckon the track was a bit slower than last week, and the wind could have played a part, but he might also have picked up a little chest muscle injury in the run.” But he claimed then that there’s no need to worry much as he said, “he’s pulled up ok today but we’ll get it checked at Yagoona and anyway, a couple of weeks off wouldn’t hurt him.”

Rockstar will be gone for a couple of weeks to be checked but he will be back in time for the Gosford Gold Cup.

Rockstar Image Has Been Doing Good!

Certainly, Rockstar Image has been doing good. In his so far spectacular career, budding champion greyhound from Bathurst, has a six race winning sequence. What more impressive is that he has won his last two races at NSW greyhound racing HQ, Wentworth Park.

In a 5th Grade race last week, Rockstar Image was so astounding running 30.09 for the 520 metre journey after starting a short-priced favourite from the 7 box. For Nick and Allan Healey the win was more meaningful as it happened on the first death anniversary of Julie Healey.

Julie Healey was most likely the reason why Rockstar Image is now into greyhound racing and betting. Julie Healey was the one who really wished to see Rockstar Image run and compete. Julie Healey died due to cancer. Up to her last breath all he wished for is the best for Rockstar Image.

However, after his debut win, Rockstar Image suffered from injury which caused him not to compete. But then he recovered later and then set a new Bathurst track record for the 450 metre journey, running 25.70 wining by 7.75 lengths few months ago, in July to be exact. It is in this event where the six consecutive races all started.

But Rockstar Image missed the start in his both two trips to Wentworth Park which blotted his winning form. On a good note, he continued at Maitland, where he won awesomely. After this, he has been then known as Bathurst’s best greyhound in racing and has won the Lithgow GRNSW Country Challenge Final.

Recently, Rockstar Image returned to Wenthworth Park to match his six prior consecutive races. His time 30.18 was just outside the best of the night however was highlighted by a significantly strong last section.

At this point, Rockstar Image has now raced 18 times for 13 wins and 3 placings and total prizemoney of over $19,000. With these stuff, Julie Healey has enough reason to be happy with her Rockstar Image.

Great Greyhounds at Gosford

In last week’s Tuesday race, a good crowd was in attendance despite the wet weather. The crowd was very satisfied despite of the hassle because the turn out of the race seemed really good. Indeed, the race was full of action and full of great greyhounds.

Several greyhounds have showcased what they’ve got. But the star of the night was really Rockstar Image who handed in the run of the night in the Slattery Auctions 4/5th Grade over 515m.

Early part, after being second & third, Rockstar Image gave his best to have a very quick 12.64 run home time, on the way to a 13½ len victory in a flying 29.73. Currently, Rockstar Image has already had two city runs without winning. But despite of this, judging him by last week’s Tuesday race, he could be a promising greyhound.

Some other greyhounds who did well in last week’s race were En Chlais, Smash Repair, Abby Taylah and Teddy Flynn.

En Chlais who took out the Blue Paws Mixed Final over 400m in 23.31 has made it back to back Gosford wins. This Ferguson trained En Chlais now has two wins, two seconds & a third from her only five starts.

Smash Repair was another greyhound to be recognized during the last week’s race. In the 515m 5th Grade event in 30.20, he took the lead throughout to win.

Ricky Moncrieff trained Abbi Taylah also left a good record with the lead throughout to score from Like a Star, who ran on from a long way back ending second of Lee Kate.

Tedd Flynn finally gave Peter Lagogiane the reason to smile again. Flynn won in race two, thus making up to some very frustrating runs lately.
