“He ran the track awfully in his first trial, but better the second time,” said Rosney. “He’s got brilliant early pace and, if he hadn’t hit the boxes and stumbled in the semis of the [Ladbokes] Puppy Derby at Monmore might have taken a bit of catching in that.”

“Andy Gray of Sky Sports has just become part of the syndicate which owns him and he was there on Saturday so it was pleasing that he ran so well,” added by the trainer.

Rosney must be feeling good now, most especially that to just mention, three of his four entries have made it to qualify on a night when the second best time belonged to Bim Bam Boozle, the Mark Wallis-trained greyhound. Bim Bam Boozle recorded 25.53s and the winner of heat four.

And naturally, his greyhound Little Sensation made it to become the quickest heat winner in the Peterborough Puppy Derby of more than 420m of bettor.com. He must really be feeling good now.

But then, we still hope and pray for more for such one great trainer. He deserves to have more, to just feel good. He has been through a lot as a trainer and we can say that he is even more than deserving to.

Kinda Ready had a winter break with breeders Ian and Brenda Seymour. For some weeks, he rested and stayed away from the racetracks. He went on vacation right before Christmas but after the season went back to his trainer Mark Wallis, who then worked him out to be back in form.

However, Wallis didn’t find it easy to work on Kinda Ready because of the bad weather after Christmas. And now, though not really shaken by the pressure of competition, the famous trainer acknowledges that the event is not that far away and that his greyhound still needs to become undoubtedly fit.

“The Trainers’ Championship isn’t that far away and the dog needs six to eight weeks toget fit”, Wallis said.

But then Wallis realizes that Kinda Ready likes Monmore and running there will be good for him.

“He obviously likes Monmore, and it’s such a great track for a dog to run on. At this stage a sprint there is ideal for him”, Wallis said.

Yes, the event is not that far away and because of the bad weather after Christmas, Kinda Ready still needs to work out for weeks in order to get fit. But then the Derby winner will be good for sure. He will be fit with the guidance of Wallis. He will give everyone a good performance at the Trainers’ Championship.

But of course, there is no need to feel complacent. Though Wallis is a really good trainer and Kinda Ready is a champion greyhound, a rigid work out is still badly needed for the big event. The two will still have to go through a sort of a battle.

The finals of the event is on Friday which will be live on SIS. It is believed to be supported by three other competitions for dogs, bitches for both 480m, and sprinters for 416m.

Wallis will not actually have Droopys Zach at the said event. Zach had an injury and so is not currently fit for any racing events. But the champion trainer has still lots of great racing greyhounds including Kinda Easy, the St Leger winner, and Corrig Vieri, the Monmore specialist. They are now at their best condition to race.

Wallis will have the two stars at the main event, with hopes of succeeding at it. Well, the champion trainer does have the potential and racing greyhounds to do so. He will most likely excel at the main event.

But of course, aside from Wallis, other great trainers will also be at the event to try their own luck. Really worth mentioning is Jimmy Wright with racer Crown Rover, the Suderland Grand Prix winner but was beaten favorite recently at Doncaster in the finals of the Yorkshire St Leger. The said trainer and his racing greyhound are really a problem to Wallis’ team. They can be a threat to the champion trainer and his racing greyhounds.

However, Wallis is a great trainer and he has been through some really challenging races. And his racing greyhounds, Kinda Easy and Corrig Vieri, always have great potential of winning. Wallis’ team will make it hard for some other teams to make it at the finals of the Christmas Festival Stayers at Monmore.

At Monmore last Monday, Ballymac Ruso, Matt Dartnall’s Irish Derby finalist, returned with an impressive run in a heat of the Cotswold Scaffolding 480.

Despite the odds, the two-year-old racer has shown great pace to be able to get back into combat and score from Farloe Magic.

Other four-bend heats were dominated and won by Droopys Mikel and Marbeck Wonder, with the latter being the fastest in 27.87. Genesis Dream set claim to a second Monmore triumph in the heats of the six-bend in 37.86.

Mark Wallis’s bitch, already a winner of the Spring Festival 630, had an all the way victory and was the fastest compared to other heat winners like Romeo Llan and Boherbee Ben.

While Swift Ninja, TV Trophy finalist, made a breaking return after just a recent lay off. At the Coventry St Leger, Michael Harris’ dog showed much potential with a smooth semi-final win and fastest-of-the-night 42.60 victory. On Sunday, at Coventry St Leger’s final, he will be one of the best six-bend racers.
