As of now, there are several greyhounds to be considered for the title. Several options indeed that will succeed last year’s winner Lenson Joker.

First on the list is actually Fear Zafonic, that according to one insider, looks to have the edge now. And for such insider, “He was just touched off in the Derby, but has come back to win the Betfair Derby at Yarmouth. He had some wins in the early part of the year, too.”

But fans of Zafonic are not yet that complacent about their greyhound on bagging home the title. At Nottingham, for the upcoming Eclipse, award nominees Lenson Bolt and Eye Onthe Storm will battle which may then change the situation in regards to the race for the title on being the Greyhound of the Year.

Next on the list is most likely Derby winner Kinda Ready, the leading hurdler Platinumlancelot. Followed possibly by the Glenroe Ginger and then by Ballymac Ruso. The latter should have improved his profile by aid of the All England Cup at Newcastle.

Well it’s still quite a long way to go for all the candidates for the Greyhound of the Year title. Yes, there are still some major events happening next month that can greatly affect the race for the title. All of the greyhound racing and betting fans’ should still keep keen eyes on the possible things that may happen. The race is not yet even close to being over.

As everyone foresees, all eyes will be on Bubbly Totti who will surely try to win to enhance his claims to the Greyhound of the Year title. Most especially that now it is final, Bubbly Rambo, one of the closest rivals of Totti, won’t participate anymore on Tuesday, thus making things easier for Ted Soppitt’s dog.

Droopys Carvalho will most likely be flying again. John Mullins’ dog will likely put huge pressure on Totti if he gets an early favor. However, more or less, St Leger winner will be bearing down on him later part.

After getting an injury, Sherries Boy will be back in action at the Romford Final. Boy is now being trained by Tony Collett for Tommy Mills, a part-owner of Lenson Joker. Joker has been of the contenders for the Greyhound of the Year title. If Sherries Boy beats Totti, Joker can undeniably get greater chances for the top honour.

Other Possible Winners

Aside from the well exposed greyhounds above, there are some other possible greyhounds, less exposed but also have great winning potential. Westmead Tina actually leads on this said greyhounds. She’s had a long spell off the card and is open to improvement. In Essex Vase semi, she ran a cracker however not lucky enough to make it.

Next in line is Thurlesburg Joker who is often compared to the likes of Lenson Joker and Boherna On Air. Thurlesburg Joker is seen to possibly win with just right effort.

Last night, Essex Vase continued with three semi-finals at Romford. Darell Williams really wondered if how effective Bubbly Totti will be around the challenging track.

Well, the St Leger winner had to work seriously on Friday before eventually coming through to win his first round heat. Trainer Ted Soppitt totally expects to improve his charge for his competitive look at the circuit.

Last night’s race 8.53 was believed to be run to suit him with three front runners ready to set the race up for a stronger finisher. However, many still doubted Totti for being effective at Romford. Some said, if he’s likely 1.6 or 1.7, many will take him on.

Up for a Match at Romford Puppy Cup Final

Many names could be mentioned in terms of greyhounds that are worth a bet. However, at the final game of Romford Puppy Cup, there could only be two names that will most likely be up for a match and that’s the names of Deanridge Ammo and Confident Kermit.

On Friday, Deanridge Amor by virtue of an inside draw has the potential to getting the nod. A repeat of his first round heat will make him lead however Confident Kermit was quicker in the semi-final and will be suited by the middle draw. On Friday, there’ll surely be much action to expect.

However, with the recent victory of Boherna Best, Bubbly Totti’s claim to the title is on great rocks. Thus, he needs to prove once again that he is the perfect aspirant for the said title. He needs to prove himself again at Romfort which is the centre of all things open-racing this week along with the Essex Vase semis on Wednesday and the Puppy Cup gala card to be held on Friday.

According to Ted Soppitt, trainer of the St Leger winner Bubbly Totti, Totti will be trying to consolidate his position alongside Boherna Best and Lenson Joker, his strongest rivals for the title.

Totti started to rebuild his claims for the title Friday as he came through 575m heat. Well, although Totti’s performance hardly amazed everyone watching, he never failed to impress everyone with his trackcraft as later part he hit the front.

Alongside Totti’s victory was the return of 2007 Gold Collar champion, Vatican Jinky, who had a long spell on the sidelines before last week’s return on the track.

It was already ironic to have been believing for the last six months that Lenson Joker was a shoo-in for the Greyhound of the Year title then for a sudden for the following months it was already Bubbly Totti of St Leger to be the better candidate for the said title. But now it seems to be more ironic for having Boherna Best perfect for the Greyhound of the Year title. None of Lenson Joker and Bubbly Totti. Well, Boherna Best with recent victory at All England Cup, seems to be really destined to beat both Lenson Joker and Bubbly Totti.

Boherna Best’s Best Accomplishments

Boherna Best is really the best. With his achievements, he seems like to be really perfect for the Greyhound of the Year title.

Of course, recently, Best has made it to the All England Cup. At Sky final, he was simply awesome. He lightly raced and was not even two-and-a-half. For Trevor Draper, next year, Best could be even better. Nonetheless, he could be a repeat mating of the one that produced Barnfield on Air.

If in case, victory overflows for Boherna Best, not just for top-class performances but also for winning a great title, then this year will be specially remembered most especially by Best’s trainer.

Well, many greyhound racing and betting enthusiasts believed that the St Leger winner Bubbly Totti will bag the Greyhound of the Year title. Finally, Totti’s credentials for the said title can be placed on the line in the last major six-bend event of 2008 at Romford, the Essex Vase.

So far, Bubbly Totti is matching the likes of Flying Winner, Boherna Best, Lenson Joker, and Tyrur Kieran for the top place.

According to trainer Ted Soppitt, Totti has trialled well over the 575m trip and will travel down from the trainer’s Durham for each of the three rounds of the competition. On Friday, Totti will be up for any challenge.

For two years, the Essex Vase has been won by Eye Onthe Veto, who still by now, wants to taste third victory in the said event.

While for the Trainer of the Year title, person in the name of Mark Wallis is now the most supported trainer for the said title. Due to the victory of Eye Onthe Veto, Wallis has been believed to be the perfect bagger of the title Trainer of the Year.

In 2006, Wallis has already won the ‘league’ but was defeated by Charlie Lister in 2007. Now, Lister lies in the second place, so Wallis has great chances of regaining the title. For Wallis, victory can be sweeter the second time around.
