But GRNSW considered several things before they refused to grant King the attendant’s license. One of the things they considered was King’s past record in relation to drug offences which for them was not good.

Eventually, GRNSW decided to not grant King the attendant’s license he was applying for. GRNSW believed that it won’t help to grant him the license.

For GRNSW, it was just right that King was given penalty of permanent disqualification considering the offences declared against him. And considering this, GRNSW also came up with a decision to not grant King attendant’s license.

But King badly wanted to return to racetracks and so after his application for attendant’s license was rejected he submitted an application to be allowed to return to racetracks without status in the industry. But then, it was also rejected. He was also deemed not worthy to be allowed to return to racetracks though with no status in the industry.

The fact that he was penalized to be disqualified for life was something really to consider for GRNSW. He was found guilty of corrupt conduct by the Greyhound Racing Authority Regulatory Committee and so was penalized to be permanently disqualified. He seemed not worthy of any racing license and he seemed not worthy as well even to return without status in the industry.

Well, King might have changed his ways after being disqualified for life. But then, GRNSW did not just consider granting him an attendant’s license or even allowing him to return to racetracks though without status in the industry. GRNSW found the two not worth doing.

The evidence was obtained from Mr. John Sweet, Mr. Kevin Gordon and of course Mr. Elliott.

To a charge under GAR 86 (e) of that he refused to be in the inquiry though was asked to be present, Mr. Elliott pleaded guilty. He was guilty of refusing to attend the inquiry despite of his presence to the inquiry being asked.

And because of refusing to attend the inquiry for the details of the scratching of Lochinvar Aramis, Mr. Elliott was penalized to be disqualified for a period of 6 months. In knowing the penalty to be given to the trainer, it was taken into account Mr. Elliott’s intention to really just disagree to attend the inquiry despite his presence being needed.

However, in hopes of not finalizing the inquiry, Mr Elliott was directed to submit phone records. And the trainer was informed of his rights to appeal.

Of course, we all have to follow authorities most especially if for settlement of issues, problems and the likes. But then, we don’t know what exactly made Mr. Elliott to disagree to the invitation for an inquiry. We don’t know what the trainer was thinking when he decided to miss the inquiry for the details of the scratching of his very own Lochinvar Aramis. We don’t say that he made the right decision to not follow authorities when they ordered him to attend an inquiry but he must have a reason that must be valid for him.

“This represents a new dawn for our sport as we look to position it appropriately for the challenges it faces in the medium to long term,” said GRNSW Chief Executive Brent Hogan. “Having racing on a Friday night at Wentworth Park will enable us to expand our core customer base and welcome new people to the sport. Before long, greyhound racing will be the only code to race in the city on a Friday night after scheduling changes in other sports.”

And according to the GRNSW Chief Executive, the K.S. Black & Co. Country Challenge Showdown will be the event that will show how successful Friday night racing can be. It will be an event to see.

“The K.S. Black & Co. Country Challenge Showdown will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase how successful Friday night racing can be at Wentworth Park,” said Hogan. “It marks the end of 10 months of exciting racing in the Country Challenge series all across the state and provides country owners and trainers with an opportunity to have their time in the limelight.”

K.S. Black & Co. will again be the sponsor for the Country Challenge Showdown. Partner Stuart Cameron was interviewed and expressed excitement with the decision of the famous accounting firm.

“We had a great time at the Showdown last year and can’t wait to see what type of interest it will generate on a Friday night this year,” said Cameron.

Betfair will indeed be the naming rights sponsor of the NSW Greyhound of the Year awards for the next two years as well as of the NSW Blue Paws Breeders and Owners Incentive Scheme. The firm will play a very important role no doubt.

And aside from being the naming rights sponsor of the awards events and the Scheme, Betfair will also be the official betting exchange partner of GRNSW, also for the next two years.

Brent Hogan, the GRNSW Chief Executive, believed that the partnership with Betfair will bring out good results particularly in growing the betting appeal of NSW greyhounds across all domestic markets and presence worldwide.

Mr. Hogan actually said that, “a partnership with Betfair makes business sense”. The firm can do a lot of things in exposing the products of GRNSW to a wider market. And that the firm is also like GRNSW in terms of approach.

The partnership is of course binded by a sort of a contract to keep everything settled. And also by something like an Integrity Deed that will set the standard in cooperation and formation sharing between the two to actually aid in ensuring the integrity of greyhound racing in general.

Betfair seems like delighted at the same time with regards to the partnership. Andrew Twaits, Chief Executive Officer of Betfair Australasia, said that “Betfair is delighted to form a partnership with such a progressive body with an appetite for growth and business development. The arrangement with GRNSW allows us to support programs and events at a state level and will eventually allow us take NSW Greyhound Racing to a much broader domestic and international audience”.

According to Professor Percey Allan AM, Chairman of the Board of GRNSW, Cameron’s report hold on to large and significant amount of research and preparation and so was welcomed by his colleagues. GRNSW was satisfied with how the report turned out.

“GRNSW is particularly pleased that Alan Cameron has recognized that the future sustainability of racing in NSW requires its three codes to be rewarded according to their relative contribution to racing turnover rather than each being guaranteed a fixed income share regardless of results,” Professor Percey Allan said.

Well, not to mention that Cameron’s report is promising. It may have some good effects to the greyhound industry itself. For Brent Hogan, Chief Executive of GRNSW, the report recognizes the greyhound industry’s ability to be flexible and seize opportunities as they arise. The review can boost industry’s potential to improve and to gain total success.

Also, Hogan said, “Greyhound racing has been able to achieve substantial growth, reflected in an increase in market share but despite this the Inter-Code agreement has not been amended to reflect this and the greyhound industry has not been rewarded for its achievements”. He added as well that, “the Inter-Code agreement has always provided a significant barrier to innovation and these recommendations by Alan Cameron will allow codes to be placed on a sustainable footing which will allow greyhounds to meet future changes in technology and be paid based on individual performance.”

By next year, on the 31st of January, GRNSW will provide a detailed response to the report or review.
