Jason Mackay, trainer of Zipping Lad, said also as revealed by the reports: “Given the red doesn’t jump I think my two are going to position well early. Zipping Lad has had a big few months but he will readjust back to the Wentworth Park start next week. I think this year will be his year, he is still a few runs off his peak but I am tipping he will have a big one.”

The Group 2 events were just big events, and even attracted Echelon, Zipping Lad, and many more. The three heats of the Multiquip Bob Payne Summer Sprint also made runners like Radley Bale, Kilty Lad and Oaks Road winners again. The runners performed well in the heats. Their trainers were happy. Radley Bale also delivered. There were challenges however the runner still succeeded and Rob Camilleri was also impressed. Camilleri was there also for the Graeme Bate kennel. There would be another event that would take place. There would be the Group 2 Final that would also attract only talented runners. The fans would also be there for the event. The event would be also exceptional.

Camilleri said: “We know we have a couple of lengths up our sleeve for next week, Graeme (Bate) just wanted to get them through tonight, they will be cherry ripe next week.”

Bate said: “I’ve got a huge opinion of Bekim Bale – you’d be an idiot not to have a big opinion of him – and I’d love to be training him, but he’s yet to prove himself in Group races and I’m more than happy with my two. They’re both great dogs and the two of them have drawn okay.”

Bekim Bale must be truly one of the best racing greyhounds of today with him also accomplishing everything including the 28.96s record in Sandown Park. For all his handlers, he must be one to also really have. It must be a blessing just to have the chance to be with him. They will also just continue making use of the great opportunity given to them. When he first started he wasn’t brilliant out of the box but the more they race the better they come and be more competitive early which is good.”

Joe Briffa, the kennel representative, said: “He’s drawn well out there. There’s not much speed underneath him and the way he led the other night (in the Top Gun at the Meadows) he’s going to be very hard to beat. Radley’s definitely quicker out of the boxes, but Allen Harper is very strong. I definitely think he’s the better chance of the two. He’s a young dog on the up.”

Allen Harper will be the one to beat when it comes down to the Group 3 Macro Meats Shootout most especially after drawing box seven for the significant event to take place next Thursday. But Radley Bale, the other racing greyhound of Bate, will also be around for the event and its $40,000 to-the-winner prize. He also got box one. Cape Hawke, the racing greyhound of Jamie Ennis, will also be present for the event and its exceptional reward for the best racing greyhound. He got box three.

Ennis said: “I think Radley Bale will lead out of the boxes, so hopefully he can take the sit on Radley Bale through the first turn. He’s race fit so he won’t be doing much before the Shootout. We’ll be keeping him fresh so he’ll be at his best next Thursday night.”

Handler Joe Briffa said: “It has been an unbelievable year for Graeme. The amount of winners in 2011 has been sensational. Shereen Bale hurt her hock after a run at The Gardens (in January), but it looks as if she has come back better than ever, which is a credit to Graeme. Once Shereen Bale found the bunny, it was all over. We were very confident going into the race because the draw was going to give her the room she needs early to really accelerate.”

But Shereen Bale was the racing greyhound named AGRA’s Greyhound of the Month for July also because of her supporters and most especially her handlers including Graeme Bate. She was the racing greyhound that must get the title also because of her sensational run of wins in July which happened with help everyone. She was also able to record the best of the night 450 win at Warrnambool and it was also because of everybody. She must also make them very happy.

And Shereen Bale also beaten other racing greyhounds like Strong Intention, El Grand Senor, Shimaguni, Tonneli Bale and Oaks Road for the AGRA’s Greyhound of the Month for July. She was the most deserving to get the title. She must really have it. And she had it and then made everyone so pleased.

Bate said: “I was first introduced to Greyhound Racing in the early 70s. I was 20 years old and my next door neighbour, who trained greyhounds, was in a car accident, and he asked me to walk his dogs for him. That got me hooked on them. At the time I’d been doing a lot of cross country running. I ran miles with his dogs and they improved out of sight.”

Wheeler said: “We knew there was improvement in him (from the semi-final) because he has just done so little two turn work. His potential is limitless, when we broke him in we thought he was the next best thing. Three weeks ago, just before the heats Graeme (Bate) sent me a text after Allen Harper won a fifth grade race at Bendigo coming from last to just get there on the line. He said then that he believed the dog would win a group race, but to do it this quickly is remarkable.”

Well, hopefully Bate will just continue experiencing happiness also because of Allen Harper and even the others, may he just continue winning great titles this 2011. The trainer will be deserving of any good experience with him also being a good trainer. Yes, being selected to win the much coveted Greyhound of the Month for May must be big thing most especially that it came just after another great thing has passed. Bate must be also very glad. For him, to be into greyhound racing must be one of the best decisions he ever made.

Bate, when asked about being into greyhound racing, said: “I was first introduced to Greyhound Racing in the early 70s. I was 20 years old and my next door neighbour, who trained greyhounds, was in a car accident, and he asked me to walk his dogs for him. That got me hooked on them. At the time I’d been doing a lot of cross country running. I ran miles with his dogs and they improved out of sight. Winning my first Melbourne Cup with Satan’s Shroud (1981) in which I won $30,000 which seemed like a fortune at the time. Also winning the Melbourne Cup with Kantarn Bale (1999) when I trained the trifecta in the race was very special and I had to pinch myself the next morning.”

Well, AGRA also extended sympathetic joy to Tonneli Bale and all of her handlers, most especially Bate who has been just there so caring. The Association was said to be also delighted with what happened.

Bate said: “He has had a few injury problems recently but is really firing now he probably needed the run leading into the final and he is certainly on the way up now. I might have a look at the Peter Mosman in June and certainly target the Traralgon Cup where he broke the track record.”

Bate said: “I am always confident with him (Radley Bale), he can begin well and he was well suited to the way he was boxed last Saturday. The track was quick on Saturday night, but he is capable of breaking the track record anywhere he goes. He was only one hundredth off the track record at Sandown (on March 17) so he has only just missed two records now.”

But for Kelly Bravo, Kilty Lad also has the capability to start well. The runner also made it in the Saturday event. For the trainer, it should not only be Radley Bale that must be given recognition. Well, there must be some other runners that are with the same ability to begin well and not only Bate’s bet. Of course, greyhound racing enthusiasts can consider this a good thing, considering that there will be great action when all the amazing runners are all in one event. There should be plenty of runners with such nice capability.

Bravo said: “He is generally quick early, and having a bit of a break (before the series) has been good for him. He was a little bit underdone going into the race, having had six weeks off, and only a couple of runs in preparation. We were really happy with the run, and he has a bit up his sleeve going into week two, hopefully he peaks at just the right time.”

Some fans of Bate-Forte tandem were saddened by the news. Just recently, the two lost two companions in racing, Velocette and Amity Bale, that both retired because of injury.

Bate was not penalized with suspension or disqualification because of the result of the swab inquiry but then was ordered to fine $3 000 and then not to get a claim for the $21 500 prize money for Dyna Forte’s SA Derby victory. He actually pleaded guilty before the GRSA Stewards.

On the night of the Derby, the first three placers went through a routine urinary swab analysis. Beer Time of Matcott, ended up getting the 2nd place, and Dentax Bale of Bate as well, ended up getting 3rd place, turned negative to drug swab. It was only the Paul Wheeler-owned Dyna Forte that turned positive. The dog actually went through two tests, the first showed irregularities and second confirmed presence of a prohibited substance called Procaine.

Because of the result of the swab inquiry, confirming Dyna Forte being positive to drug swab, Beer Time that was the 2nd placer then, is now the winner of the Derby and the $21 500 to-the-winner-prize. Dentax Bale, the 3rd placer, is currently the 2nd placer. Through the said dog, Bate and Wheeler earn an extra $3 200. The 3rd placer now is Mick The Mozz of Andrea Dailly, that was 4th placer then. Trainer Dailly earns $3 150.

Before Dyna Forte, El Galo of Jason Thompson became a group race winner positive to drug swab.
