Darren McDonald said: “She’s very strong and she got the run. That’s the key to her – if she can dictate on her terms she’s got an enormous amount of ability and tonight she showed what she can really do. She’s a very clean winded stayer and doesn’t take a lot of work. She’s shown glimpses of her ability late last year but she’s had a few problems. This is the first time we’ve really been able to get a good preparation into her and tonight she showed what she can really do.”

And even for McDonald Lady Arko was great at the Victorian final of the Macro Meats National Distance Championship. She was able to deliver to win and yes, to also to set new track record. Of course, McDonald was so happy with what happened at Tattersall’s Park last week. The trainer was represented by Octane Show and Perfect Fancy in the final. Octane Show was successful and the Victorian was so glad finally winning a Wrest Point Hobart Thousand. Perfect Fancy also did not disappoint as the racer had the third place.

McDonald said: “Winning this race means a hell of a lot to me because I’ve been here many times and with some real smart dogs but the prize has eluded me. In the past we’ve taken the dogs home after the heats and brought them back but we’ve had problems with plane delays and other things have gone wrong but leaving the dogs here has been much better so we’ve learned something there. It’s just wonderful to finally win it and with a dog that was a very deserving winner. Octane Show is probably entering the twilight of his career but he’s in terrific form and he had to be to win this race because it was probably the hottest Hobart Thousand field I’ve seen since I’ve been coming here.”

Those who have been supporting McDonald were also so glad with what happened at Tattersall’s Park last week. Octane Show made it and the trainer finally won a Wrest Point Hobart Thousand. They were also so happy with the great accomplishment at the famous Tattersall’s Park recently.

It was “said” that there was an outburst from registered trainers and defacto husband and wife team Seona Hood and Jason Thompson. According to some watchers last Thursday night, 27th of November 2008, “pub” language was directed toward winning trainer Darren McDonald. Thompson was alleged for using the f*** word many times to describe McDonald, his greyhound along with the GRV Stewards decision to allow Surgeon to run.

Such kind of outburst already took place earlier this year at Warrnambool however toward GRV CEO John Stephens. Thompson was alleged to have stormed toward Stephens again to continue his public “blow-up”.

Because of similar incidents involving an outburst most likely of emotions, Jason Thompson, so together with Seona Hood were reminded by GRV Stewards to act properly in events. Stewards have initially issued a warning to Trainer J Thompson regarding his comments, an inquiry to alleged incidents in the kennel block area will be set to a date.
