Cutting Corners managed to win in the Betfair Breeders Classic Final of 452 meters which was also a significant NWGRC race. It was also challenging to be in the race. One handler said after a racing greyhound won: “When your dog beats Damek and Sultan’s Swing home you know he’s in best form. He’s always shown the ability to produce that sort of run so I suppose it was only a matter of time. He is the sort of dog that needs an outside box (6-8) and when he gets the right run in the race he can produce what he did last Thursday night.”

Damek also made it to the big event at The TOTE Racing Centre and did well there also in front of many greyhound racing fans. The racing greyhound, after succeeding in the event, just made his win tally reach 41. The greyhound racing fans also there for him must be very happy with him being able to. He once again showed that he could really perform well.

He ran second at his first start for me at Devonport behind the kennel mate Gun Burner and then he backed up two days later here in Hobart and ran second to Innisfree Miss beaten a length after copping a check. He is one of seven Paul (Felgate) had in Melbourne but he wasn’t quite up to city standard so he sent him to me. It’s good money here and it’s probably an easier option. His times and sectionals have been really good and he clocked 26.06 tonight so that’s good enough to win an invitation if Damek isn’t in it.”

Gittus said: “Ming Dynasty arrived at my kennels when she was about 15 months old and almost from day one she has given me the impression that she would be a good stayer. She is only lightly raced because she took a while to come to hand and the shorter distances didn’t suit but once we got her over longer trips she has come into her own.”

And Ming Dynasty and Damek will be going to and representing Tasmania in the Group One National Sprint and National Distance Australian Titles at Albion Park and this must be really good for all the supporters. It also seemed that they will just deliver with runner of Gittus running with great speed and agility and the runner of Phillips also running with them.

But Ming Dynasty and Damek, though they proved once more that they can really do well and be able to just go to and represent Tasmania in the Group One National Sprint and National Distance Australian Titles at Albion Park will still need help of everyone. Supporters of Damek must have waited so badly for a period of time for their favorite’s comeback. And finally, they have seen him at Tattersalls Park in Hobart on a Tuesday afternoon returning just right. They have actually missed him with the racing greyhound not racing after not making it against Sultan’s Swing and Mushy Peas some time ago. Well, the owners and breeders were very happy with Damek doing very well in Tasmania. And although he has failed in a way interstate, yes, they still felt lucky to be with him. They understood that he can’t just deliver when away. For the meantime, they can only race him where he feels comfortable of competing. They can’t force him to be very good in place where he cannot because of separation anxiety.

For the two, their Damek has already proven himself a must-have greyhound for owners, breeders and trainers and a must-see for greyhound racing enthusiasts, bettors and all. He has thrilled everyone for a lot of times. He has won races, and just one after another. He did not make it in Victorian events but he did not appear bad. He can’t just really perform when feeling away. He is not comfortable when feeling so. But if not feeling separated, he is one to really thrill everyone. He can deliver when he actually feels that he is not away and indeed home and just safe. And the two understood this and can certainly deal with this very well.

However, according to the reports, Damek has also failed in three Victorian events. But then, for Peter Phillips, he did not make it only because of separation anxiety. And for the boss and all the others, it has not been a problem if he failed in those three because of being uneasy due to being separated. They have accepted that it was not easy for the racer to go on despite separation.

Phillips said: “It’s a comfort zone thing so there’s no point in sending him away again. He’s got nothing to prove, as good as it would be to win over there.”

Yes, in Tasmania, it seemed to the supporters of Damek that the greyhound would really do anything and everything just to destroy his opponents. And they were glad with his effort to. But then, it was also impossible in a way to see him doing same thing in other states. He would not be demolishing his rivals in Victoria and all others. But for sure, they too also have understood that he can’t because of being uncomfortable when away. They can only be contented with him doing well where he can actually be good like Tasmania. The greyhound has been really trying to also make them happy with what he can only offer to them. No doubt, he has still been a greyhound to really watch out for to them.
