Winner of 2009 Lindeman’s SA Greyhound of the Year Title Unveiled

SA Greyhound RacingThe long wait is now over for all greyhound racing fans and bettors as the winner of 2009 Lindeman’s SA Greyhound of the Year title was finally unveiled. The greyhound declared as the winner of the title was Drink Driver, with career best form in February up to March.

Drink Driver has actually 10 starts for 7 wins and 2 placings over that three months. And within that period, he took at his first Group race win.

And the most notable among all of his achievements in that three months is the one in the West End Draught Anniversary Cup, it took place in April. To also mention, he actually beaten Scull Murphy in $25,000 Group 3 Final.

Some of his other achievements include his participation in the Perth Cup. He run two amazing races in the event and for this he had conquered the national stage. He actually started with a sensational Heat win and then followed it with a Group 1 Final third placing. Though he wasn’t able to get a back to back win, he can still be given acknowledgment for his gutsy performance in those events.

The confident racer actually ended the year with a total of 10 wins and 10 placings from 29 starts and all can be considered in top grade. His 2009 earnings amounted to $66,000, which then increased his career total earnings. In total, he has earned as much as $85,000.

For many greyhound racing fans and bettors, Drink Driver is deserving to be named as the 2009 Lindeman’s SA Greyhound of the Year. He has shown good performances in various events last year. He has shown that he is a one good racer deserving of a prestigious title, of a distinguished award. But of course, everyone can’t be pleased. It’s natural to have opposing sides as far as his winning of the title is concerned.
