Trainer Failed to Attend Stewards Inquiry

Stewards have asked Mr. Greg Elliott to attend an inquiry for the details in regards to the scratching of Lochinvar Aramis when drawn to contend in the Race 10 World 4 Pets Maiden Stake at Richmond on June 5, 2010. However, Mr. Elliott failed to attend the inquiry. Therefore, because of failing to, the Greyhound Racing NSW Stewards made investigations to determine if there was negligence or the likes on part of the trainer.

The evidence was obtained from Mr. John Sweet, Mr. Kevin Gordon and of course Mr. Elliott.

To a charge under GAR 86 (e) of that he refused to be in the inquiry though was asked to be present, Mr. Elliott pleaded guilty. He was guilty of refusing to attend the inquiry despite of his presence to the inquiry being asked.

And because of refusing to attend the inquiry for the details of the scratching of Lochinvar Aramis, Mr. Elliott was penalized to be disqualified for a period of 6 months. In knowing the penalty to be given to the trainer, it was taken into account Mr. Elliott’s intention to really just disagree to attend the inquiry despite his presence being needed.

However, in hopes of not finalizing the inquiry, Mr Elliott was directed to submit phone records. And the trainer was informed of his rights to appeal.

Of course, we all have to follow authorities most especially if for settlement of issues, problems and the likes. But then, we don’t know what exactly made Mr. Elliott to disagree to the invitation for an inquiry. We don’t know what the trainer was thinking when he decided to miss the inquiry for the details of the scratching of his very own Lochinvar Aramis. We don’t say that he made the right decision to not follow authorities when they ordered him to attend an inquiry but he must have a reason that must be valid for him.
