Track Work and Middle Distance Boxes Installation at Sandown Announced

Sandown ParkThe Sandown Greyhound Racing Club has announced recently the track work and middle distance installation that will be done at the racing venue in the coming weeks. The replacement of the track’s surface will be done first and then be followed by the installation of the middle distance boxes.

Because of the track work and middle distance boxes installation, people anticipated that the Club will take a break from racing. And just along with the Club’s announcement is actually its confirmation regarding the said break, thus putting an end to the people’s anticipation.

The Club will take a break right after the Bert Bryant Memorial meeting on March 11 and will resume on its operations on April 8. And it confirmed that the meetings that should be staged at Sandown will be transferred to and be staged at The Meadows. However, this is in exception of the April 1 meeting that will be pushed through at the Cranbourne.

The track surface will actually be replaced with Burrumbeet sand and this is believed to be a part of the goal of the Greyhound Racing Victoria to have uniformity in its racing surfaces and maintenance processes in its tracks as a whole. The track’s surface, if finally replaced with Burrumbeet sand, will already be the same with that of the The Meadows, Ballarat and Warrnambool, and even Warragul.

While the middle distance boxes will also be installed after the work at the track and this is indeed for the implementation of a middle distance start of about 600m. The existing 515m and 715m starts must be complemented by the new middle distance start.

The new middle distance start will also complete the expansion of the metropolitan racing opportunity for the participants who just have something to with the (proposed) additional meetings scheduling.
