The Tasmanian stayer Thirteen Black seemed simply lucky in Launceston previous Monday where he still manage to stop the clock at 43.65 and then secure a place in the state final next Monday.
In Launceston, the Leigh Wood-trained dog went out of own box as a $1.20 favorite to win the state heat however after running for 100 meters he was close to being last and then was at least 15 lengths away from the leaders. After traveling 100 meters, it seemed that he was not going to finish in the first four. But the dog continued to run and went to the back of another runner and just bustled with such runner for around 50 meters. Eventually, he was able to be in a better position but then he still has to reach the point where the four leaders were at.
Thirteen Black was lucky but then also talented enough to beat Sonic Oceania by a half-head with Capetown Harry almost two lengths astern. Well, he was lucky and of course also talented enough to beat the two considering where he was after traveling 100 meters.
Thirteen Black indeed stopped the clock at 43.65. It was not that good considering Posh Di was able to finish the 720 meters in just 42.81. However considering how he managed things to improve his position after he traveled 100 meters and became close to being last and then became at least 15 lengths away from the leaders, he did just great.
It might be because he was also just lucky in Launceston but we believe that it was because of his being skillful in Launceston that he was still able to stop the clock at 43.65 and then secure a place in the state final next Monday despite of his bad start.
