St. Pierre Dominated the Group 3 Woy Woy Poultry St. Leger

This week has been filled with surprises. We have been stunned by stories of victories of not so fancied racing greyhounds. Just like that story of St. Pierre of Christopher Nutt. On a Wednesday night, he had an unexpected victory in the Group 3 Woy Woy Poultry St. Leger at The Gardens, an event of 515m.

A lot of spectators then were amazed how the second longest-priced greyhound at $29.40 beaten in the feature group race just the like of Gnarley Boy that was at $22.10. St. Pierre defeated the runner-up by three-quarters-of-a-length.

The Christopher Nutt-trained recorded a time of 30.05 seconds over the 515m event. It was notable that before he did so, he made the most out of his inside draw and then confidently went through the rails. The draw and his speed were perfect then, just right for him to get revenge for his defeat that was by seven-and-a-half lengths in his heat by Elite Blue Size.

It was indeed not a good night for Elite Blue Size of Reg Kay and Lochinvar Marlow of Robert Smith, the two shortest-priced, as they end up getting the fifth and last respectively. The latter was undefeated before but unluckily was not able to jump from box five quickly.

At this point in time, out of his 12 career starts, St. Pierre already have five wins. And in connection to this can be sent to the National Derby next month. The St. Leger event is considered as an event leading to the Group 1 event at the same track.

This week is about to end. There might be few more surprises that would close this week amazingly. Let us all wait and see if there are really few more.
