The greyhound really considered a Queenslander, Nellie Noodles, surprised everyone Thursday night by winning the Group 1 Albion Park Gold Cup (710m). Prior to the last lap, the greyhound seemed far from the others. But then rushed to the last lap to actually win the event. The Queenslander just surprised everyone.
The Robbie Britton-trained greyhound though was greatly challenged showed power to make her way to win by a length in just 41.84 and down local star Dashing Corsair. And because of such accomplishment, she got to keep herself unbeatable at Albion Park.
While the trainer of Nellie Noodles was interviewed after the event and actually said that the greyhound could just deliver a surprising finish. Thus, the trainer was not bothered then about the greyhound not winning.
“On the home turn I was very confident she could win,” Britton said.
And the trainer has faith on the ability of the greyhound. Hence, for the trainer would be actually deserving of a Group 1 victory.
“Helen rang me yesterday to wish us luck and I said to her Nellie Noodles deserved to win a Group 1 race,” Britton said. “Helen said if it wasn’t this one it might be the next.”
But the trainer really has faith on the ability of the greyhound. For the trainer, most likely the greyhound will simply make it. The trainer most probably was just confident that the greyhound will not miss winning the event.
Nellie Noodles is black bitch whelped March of 2007, just a daughter of Flying Penske with Classy Creek. Current record of this bitch is good with nine wins and two placings for 15 starts. The current prize money total earnings of the greyhound now $71,070 with the $50,000 first prize of the Gold Cup boosting her total earnings.
