Yes, Lenson Bolt was able to bring home the Romford Puppy Cup title. Tony Collett was obviously happy with the outcome of his performance. For the trainer, it seems that blessings keep on coming. Bolt just won Kent Derby title and now he won the Romford Puppy Cup title just last Friday night.
Bolt’s victory can be considered by Collett as one of the most memorable victories ever. He was able to successfully lower down the odds on favorite Westmead Carl. The said favorite brought down Bolt in a semi-final encounter but then Collett’s pride was able to take revenge when made it in the £8,000 final.
Droopys Flo Jo was at first, away from the boxes, but then was accompanied by two market leaders and ended up having a chance to just finish third that is well beaten. Bolt managed to proceed to the third corner and be on grasp. At odds of 5/2 and by half a length in a time of 24.11 sec, he won over the 10/11f Westmead Carl.
Collett after discovering Bolt did it, he just said, “ He’s got me out of a bit of trouble”, and that “the connections were certainly getting a bit anxious, but he’s done it when it mattered”.
According to Collett, it is quite clear that Bolt seemed to prefer a bigger gallop and that by next Thursday, he is most likely not a puppy anymore. But the known trainer is in high hope of Bolt getting a place next year in the Racing Post Juvenile.
With Bolt’s performance in the Kent Derby and the recent Romford Puppy Cup, he might just conquer the Racing Post Juvenile easily. But of course, anything can happen so let us just hope for the best for him, for both of them, Bolt and trainer Collett.
