Leigh Wood’s New Dog That Could Go All The Way

For the past the years, trainer Leigh Wood, showed everyone that he has some good dogs, dogs that are truly competitive. But for sometime, he has not been that active in training or producing a dog that could go all the way.

Well the good news now is, a youngster named Thirteen Black started his racing career three months ago and proved everyone Wood still has the potential to train or produce a dog that could give everything for the sake of racing.

About a week ago, in Launceston, Thirteen Black became one of the state’s brightest young prospects when he had his way home to win the $7500 Gold Collar final over 515 meters.

From box two, Thirteen Black only fairly started and seen Hellyeah Geoff (8) and Kialdu Anna (6) six lengths going down the back stretch. However, he managed to slip into overdrive, he hauled the two in instantly and went on to actually score.

Wood expected Thirteen Black to be successful and be at the top grade but then he thought he would have one win at a time.

“The dog is starting to show the ability that I thought he had as a very young dog”, the trainer said.

It is still a long way for Wood and of course for his dog Thirteen Black. There are more events to give it a try. There is the Hobart Thousand which is one of the popular events, but then he said he will really try not to entertain thoughts of being at the said event but instead at the Breeder’s Classic in Launceston.

It is just a matter choice. And Wood as the trainer, is the primary decision maker. If Thirteen Black will really succeed or not, it is up to him and his decisions on choices.
