Oaks, is considered as the last Classic of the year. It has been a much awaited event. However, right now, it’s facing a great trouble because of being well oversubscribed. For the record, almost double the 48 entries were received by Wimbledon. Entire format of the event is now being looked at in the next year.
Just like the Derby, Oaks could be open to all entries or limited to 72 bitches. At this stage, the prize money is being re-evaluated in relation to the plan of turning the old competition to Irish Oaks.
One of the 48 bitches on record who will be running for the gold this week is Scottish-based Lochbo Meg.

Another which has been hitting the headlines is the battle of re-claim for Walthamstow Stadium. Possible bid for the land of a housing association is now unclear however other possible developers may be interested in the site.
Last August, the site was sold by the Chandler family. Then on, schemes of re-claim were set involving the land.
