Hobart Maiden Thousand Series’ Latest Discovery Happens to be Damek

A lot of Tasmania’s top greyhounds were discovered because of the popular Hobart Maiden Thousand Series. And now, another greyhound is discovered, being the latest to surface as a potential greyhound star, and still because of the said series. The name is Damek (Big Daddy Cool-World’s Finest).

The fine greyhound racer conquered his qualifying heat by 18 lengths in 26.10sec time. Then punters placed him in his semi-final being $1.40 favorite.

Naturally, Damek didn’t fail his backers by starting well from Box Eight and continued in speed to score by 12 lengths in 26.26 time.

The newly discovered star, Damek, is owned by own breeder Peter Phillips and is trained by Eileen Thomas in Launceston. Both Phillips and Thomas are happy with the latest accomplishment of their greyhound. But then, Phillips is more than excited when it comes to the possible things Damek is still to achieve.

“The litter broke in well but this one and Decembrist looked like being the most forward and that’s how it’s panned out”, Phillips said.

And in addition the breeder said, “Decembrist has already proven himself and we were hoping Damek would do well in this series but when he clocked 26.10 in his qually heat we knew we probably had something a bit special”.

Also, he said, “he did it again tonight (in semi) so we are hoping he can continue to improve and if that happens the sky could be the limit”.

A new potential star is revealed to us because of the Hobart Maiden Thousand Series. But before this greyhound, there are already some others which were known to be capable of becoming a star. And in fairness to them which were known first, they’ve actually proven they can really be a star. And like them, Damek might also prove he can be as well.
