Group Two Multicam Black Top Hopefuls Battled at The Gardens

Some hopefuls for the much-awaited $35,000 to the winner Group Two Multicam Black Top battled at The Gardens in the race six, the Multicam Nearing Stake over 515 meters. Present to race in the said event were local stars New Divide, Rachel Robbo and Devine Ruler. They raced with Northern NSW visitor, Hanify’s Forte. Hanify’s Forte is trained by Colin Graham.

After the retirement of Take The Kitty recently, New Divide earned the spot as master trainer Ken Cheetham’s kennel star. New Divide has proven himself ready to belong to the elite level by succeeding in the Group Two Peter Mosman Final.

Cheetham said: “I think he’ll (New Divide) be hard to beat today and he can measure up in the Black Top.”

However, the event was not an easy event for one to dominate with Rachael Robbo in trap seven and Devine Ruler from the outside. Rachael Robbo was capable of delivering speedy performance and Devine Ruler same kind of performance after improving form in Patrick Parrelli kennel.

At The Gardens, Rachael Robbo has won 11 races over three distances, 413, 515 and 600 meters. She was seriously prepared by trainers for another victory before she actually starts a new career as a mother.

Rachael Robbo’s co-trainer Gary Robertson said: “I’m happy with the way she has freshened up after a couple of weeks off. She’s only got a couple of starts left in her I don’t like to over race the girls and try to restrict them to around 40 starts. It will be a nice way to finish her race track career, in a Group race at The Gardens.”

The Group Two Multicam Black Top heats will take place on August 28 just like the Group One National Championships at Angle Park in Adelaide. The $35,000 to the winner final will take place a week after.
