The Group 2 Rookie Rebel held on Saturday night at The Meadows was no doubt dominated by Flash Of Light. Running for Mark Delbridge, the greyhound indeed won the event of over 600 meters.
Delbridge, who handled a lot of group winners in the late 90’s, enjoyed the rest of Saturday night at The Meadows after his racer won the said event. But he actually saw the victory coming long time ago after he learned how to effectively train greyhounds for races under the guidance of the most recognized trainer Graeme Bate.
However, the victory was naturally sweet for Delbridge. Finally, his most anticipated win came into reality and it actually came with a bonus with his wife’s achievement. His wife’s greyhound Aint Workin’ was the runner-up in the race at The Meadows.
It was really the night Delbridge won’t forget and so as her wife most likely. They got the first two top placings in an event of over 600 meters.
Delbridge’s Flash Of Light recorded a time of 34.48 with sections of 8.94 (8) and 22.02 (6). And the greyhound, in order, was followed by Barnik Boy ($5.90), Paragon Patch ($6.60), Blitzem Bale ($18.50), Sky Fly High ($16.40) and Cho Chang ($21.30).
The male Delbridge trainer must be thankful for having Flash Of Light. He must be grateful to Premier Fantasy and Trendy La Maze that brought the greyhound to life.
Now, just after the Group 2 Rookie Rebel, Delbridge’s Flash Of Light has a record of 46 starts for 22 wins and nine placings with prize money earnings of as much as $116,175.
Just more achievements for Delbridge and his racer Flash Of Light. The tandem of these two will go a long way with their skill and hard work. Just all the best for them, this we hope.
