Graham Confirmed Portsmouth Closure

PortsmouthYes, promoter Eric Graham confirmed the closure of Portsmouth and this happened on Monday. According to him, the Saturday’s meeting at Portsmouth was actually its last and that the Target Road track will still be there but no longer operational.

Graham was so sad when he confirmed the Portsmouth closure. Well, it is understandable if he was, he operated the track for two years and he has indeed done everything to save Portsmouth.

Graham even tried to communicate with South East England Development Agency or simply known as SEEDA though the agency seemed not open for any talks then. He badly wanted to extend the two-year-lease.

Graham confirmed as well that his company will go through really tough times with such immediate closure.

Graham said in a statement, “I am bitterly disappointed that we will not be able to continue with greyhound racing at the stadium. It is particularly galling given that I have struggled on through a loss-making period with the thought that we would look forward to a new lease and the summer period which would have helped mitigate the loss.”

Naturally, we all hope that such happening didn’t happen. We all indeed wish that Portsmouth is still open for racing events. But then, we can’t do anything about Portsmouth now being closed. Graham tried so hard to keep the track open but then he failed to. Too bad that the almost 80 years of greyhound racing at Portsmouth came to an end that quick. However we can say that it is God’s will. And things, well they just happen for a reason.

It will actually take some time before this Portsmouth closure becomes something acceptable. And will indeed take a lot of optimism before such thing becomes something that can be accepted. But eventually, it will be.
