Globe Memorial Easter Chase Dominated by a Veteran

Jarvis BaleYes, one of the most-anticipated events of the year, the Globe Memorial Easter Chase 720m, was dominated by a veteran popularly known as Jarvis Bale. A lot of greyhound racing enthusiasts might not, in a way, believe this but it is true.

A lot of young greyhounds have the capability then to win in the said event, but it was the greyhound in his old age that actually made it in Globe Memorial Easter Chase 720m.

Well, the Graeme Bate-trained greyhound is now worth our praises. He has finally won at Wentworth Park after 10 attempts of doing so. And he has made it against the best stayers like Drill ‘Em, Dashing Corsair and Lochinvar Vogue.

Jarvis Bale indeed got an unlikely box five draw however still managed to battle it out with the Queenslander Dashing Corsair before getting a length to spare at the post in a time of 42.75s.

“We knew if he gets out in front, he just gets a bit of a free run and he’s up there with the best,” said owner Brendan Wheeler. “He just needs to be left alone to do his own thing.”

The owner also believed that Jarvis Bale must be improving though in old age to actually be significantly successful.

“He only won his first race at The Meadows the other week and now he’s won his first race at Wenty,” said Wheeler. “He seems to be coming better in his old age.”

But the owner has also acknowledged the winning ability of the likes of Dashing Corsair and Drill ‘Em.

“When dogs like Dashing Corsair and Drill ‘Em get out in front and do their own thing you can’t get them – they’re gone,” said Wheeler.

But naturally, the owner has also considered everything.

“But if you can get there in the first 100 and make them work, the result is often different.”
