Gardiner Disqualified From Racing Events for 5 Months

It was confirmed that Tanya Gardiner is now considered disqualified from racing events for 5 months and this is still in regards to GRSA Stewards having completed an inquiry on 26th of October 2009 into the circumstances leading to the trainer’s greyhound being positive to codeine. Gardiner is expected to be in accordance to the rule on disqualification.

Gardiner was actually charged with a breach of the Greyhound Racing R83 of GRSA Rules which actually implies some things to be done. The rules states that:

• R83 Greyhound to be free of prohibited substances
  (2) The owner, trainer or person in charge of a greyhound-
• (a) nominated to compete in an Event;
• (b) presented for a satisfactory, weight or whelping trial or such other trial as provided for pursuant to these Rules; or
• (c) presented for any test or examination for the purpose of a period of incapacitation or prohibition being varied or revoked
  shall present the greyhound free of any prohibited substance.
  (3) The owner, trainer or person in charge of a greyhound presented contrary to sub-rule (2) shall be guilty of an offence.
  (4) A greyhound presented for an Event contrary to sub-rule (2) shall be disqualified from the Event or any benefit derived from a trial or test.

The greyhound Redgum Assassin was actually seventh of the eight runners in the last race on the card, and being defeated 10.75 lengths having been backed in to begin as fourth favourite.

Gardiner indeed has pleaded guilty and so was given a 5-month disqualification which effectivity started on the midnight of 26th of October 2009. Thus, Redgu Assassin was disqualified from the Event mentioned and then the placings there on were also corrected.

Gardiner has been into some troubles and that of his greyhound’s being positive to codeine is actually just one. The trainer should seriously ponder on this.
