Sheffield trainer Carol Evans has been hitting the headlines for being suspended by the GBGB after the famous betting exchange Betfair forwarded information regarding unusual betting patterns. But the trainer was interviewed recently and said that GBGB has to do the right thing.
GBGB director of regulation Declan Donnelley was also interviewed and then said that the trainer was indeed suspended after Betfair revealed certain facts to GBGB.
“I can confirm Carol Evans had her professional trainers’ license suspended on Wednesday, May 12 as a result of information forwarded to us by Betfair regarding unusual betting patterns,” said Donnelley.
While the trainer indeed said that GBGB has to do the right thing.
“The GBGB has got to do what it’s got to do for the integrity of the greyhound industry,” said the trainer. “But I will say that a kennelhand I’m told is involved doesn’t work for me.”
Well, we also need to hear what the trainer has to say regarding the issue. And members of GBGB have acknowledged this as well. Thus, they have been investigating.
The information regarding unusual betting patterns from betting exchange Betfair may be true but of course must be proven to be really true. Evans has been also a good trainer. Thus, this trainer must be subject to proper investigation.
It may take some time before we know what really is true, before we know if the trainer was up to some unusual betting patterns or not. A proper investigation must really take place, a good career would be at great risk otherwise.
What we can just do now is to actually wait and see what’s going to happen next. Let us just all patiently wait for the result of the investigation. We just hope and pray that justice would prevail, still for the integrity of the greyhound industry.
