Yes, the Reg Kay-trained speedster Elite Blue Size won the 2010 Maitland Gold Cup. Other speedsters also tried to win such big racing event just like Miss Peru and Pulp but the brilliant Elite Blue Size beaten them. He was the lucky greyhound to secure the $25,000-to-the-winner prize of the said event.
At Maitland, Elite Blue Size actually started as hot $1.80 favorite. And he must have felt he was then as he went on excellently to have two length victory ahead of Miss Peru,$17.30, and be a further two and a quarter lengths ahead of another long-priced, Pulp, $13.50.
Chief Relief, $7.50, raced as well and eventually ended up having a gallant fourth just a neck away after being third throughout. Little Sparkle became just next after Chief Relief though actually the second favorite at $6.40.
The Reg Kay-trained speedster Elite Blue Size beaten all other racers then and won the Group 2 J&H Air-Conditioning Gold Cup Final of 450m at Maitland with a great time of 24.93s.
Elite Blue Size did well at Maitland most especially if we consider that he was not the first one to be out of the boxes and there was a strong field for him to overcome. Little Sparkle was the first one to be actually out of the boxes.
Elite Blue Size was just so talented then to be able to quickly go fast to the front to get a lead early on. He was amazing then.
His win at Maitland is now his third Group success for this year. And now, he is already one of the few that seem to put in early claims for the 2010 NSW’s Greyhound of the Year title; of course because of the said win. His other great wins include his Group 1 National Derby win and then the Group 2 Gosford Gold Cup win.
