Yes, the Eileen Thomas-trained Damek is still unbeaten just after he won in Tuesday’s juvenile race at Devonport. The race was over 452 meters. And indeed, he surprised the crowd when he make it through and ended up having a 12-length advantage over his rivals.
The pup recorded a running time of 25.23, just behind of one-tenth with that of Lilli Pilli Lad. In July 2000, Lilli Pilli Lad recorded a running time of 25.13 for same event.
Trainer Thomas believes that Damek significantly becomes better and now can be considered as frightening considering his current potential.
“Who knows what he’s capable of because that was his first start on the track so he’s bound to improve,” the trainer said.
When Damek raced at Devonport, he was actually just fresh then from a brilliant 6-3/4 length win in the Hobart Maiden Thousand.
“He hasn’t been beginning all that well but he musters speed quickly. If he can improve his box manners he could be really special,” Thomas said.
Big Daddy Cool-World’s Finest was actually bred by Peter and June Phillips at Copping. Thus, he could be really special.
But then, Damek should still be trained, particularly in regards to his box manners. He might be bred by Peter and June Phillips but still he needs appropriate training. There are some things that he still needs to master to become the greyhound that Thomas and the others expect him to become.
Damek has so much potential to become precious in the greyhound racing industry. But his handlers should not be that complacent as things happen in an instant. They should prepare him for anything and everything and of course they should be as well. It is better to be ready for things that may take place and change the fate.
