Damek Back on Track

Yes, one of the most promising greyhounds in Tasmania, Damek, is back on track. Good thing he did not actually obtain any major injury from hitting the lure.

Damek was trialing at Launceston track then when he met an accident, hit the lure. He was immediately rushed to the Sandown Veterinary Clinic for check up and he was lucky not to have any major injury. He was cleared of any bone or ligament damage, which could just simply make him permanently unfit for racing.

The greyhound’s part-owner June Phillips actually felt bad about the accident but eventually felt good upon knowing that the greyhound did not obtain any major injury.

“We are all very relieved that Damek suffered no major injury from hitting the lure and now we are just looking forward to him contesting the Breeders Classic in Launceston,” Phillips said.

Phillips conceded that in Melbourne, Damek actually trialed at both city tracks and did well though just from an accident.

No doubt that Damek is a strong greyhound, he was not actually harmed at Launceston track though he crashed into the lure. But Phillips said that still they are hoping that Damek is as good as people believe he really is.

“We are all hoping he is as good as some believe he is because every code needs their stars and we’d love him to be in that category but for the time being we are keeping a reasonably firm lid on things,” Phillips said.

Last Friday, Damek actually returned to Launceston track to be at a qualifying heat of the Launceston club’s Breeder’s Classic series and did not encounter an accident instead had a good time. He dominated the event. For this, it seems that it is really hard to bring Damek down, he is a strong kind of greyhound. He’d go a long way.
