The $25,000-to-the-winner Group 2 Border Park Galaxy of 420m was successfully hosted by Tweed Heads on Monday night. And the talented racer that made it to win the richest non-TAB greyhound race in Australia on Monday night was Big Bunga.
The Jason MacKay-trained Big Bunga, after heats of Saturday night, went to the final being $4.40 second favorite and having box one. Then in the final seriously raced to beat Elite Blue Size which at $1.80 by actually a narrow margin.
Big Bunga had a hectic start, the racer tried to make his way to the front but then battled greatly with Royal Surfer and Marco Man. But of course, the racer then could not afford to miss the lead coming into the turn.
Some greyhound racing fans anticipated a win from Elite Blue Size. But then the famous racer did not make it against Big Bunga. Elite Blue Size indeed had a slow beginning. But the fans were not that disappointed with Elite Blue Size not giving them the win as the champion racer still was able to impress them with the challenge given to Big Bunga. The Jason MacKay-trained racer also found it hard to win because of Elite Blue Size.
Naturally, there were also some greyhound racing fans who expected a win from Big Bunga. And the racer just did not make them feel bad by actually winning and just in a time of 23.29.
Well, Big Bunga won 10 of his 17 career starts. The racer can just go a long way.
The Border Park Galaxy was the latest race in the GRNSW Country Challenge series of which final is going to actually happen on July 9 at the famous and well-loved Wentworth Park. The final will just be one of the most memorable greyhound racing events.
