Best Greyhounds of New Zealand Up for the Shootout Race

New Zealand Shootout race is already on Thursday, 26th of November 2008. Four of the best greyhounds of New Zealand are up for the said race and are expected to play at their best to win the luring prize money that happens to be $60,000.

According to Ross Grove, Greyhound Racing New Zealand’s (GRNZ) Racing Manager, the race should be watched out for as it is one of a kind with “winner takes all” rule. The race will be at Manukau Stadium.

For sure, four of the best greyhounds in New Zealand will seriously compete and vie for the prize money, so there are so many things, action to be expected. What more, Grove said, “these are four of the best dogs in the country, invited by a panel of experts because they are quality animals, are racing really well at present and should all be suited to the four-dog format. The Shootout is the only New Zealand race that doesn’t have a full field of eight dogs.”

Grove stated that owners or trainers of the invited greyhounds put up a $5000 entry fee for every dog, which GRNZ has just subsidized to $40,000 and winner takes entire $60,000. Second and third placers have nothing to win.

Four of New Zealand’s best greyhounds and their trainers for the Shootout race are:

  • Magic Spike (Steve Clark)
  • Atlantic Bale (Craig Roberts)
  • Rockabye Lad (Dave and Jean Fahey)
  • Diamond Zac (Brendon Cole)

Race will start at 8:24 pm.
