All Set for Group 2 Globe Memorial Easter Chase

It seems that Australia’s best stayers are now all set for their much-awaited event, the Group 2 Globe Memorial Easter Chase (720m), just after the heats were actually staged Saturday night at the Wentworth Park. To name a few of these stayers, there is the Queenslander Dashing Corsair and the Newcastle-based Lochinvar Vouge, which are just ready for their most-anticipated event after making it in the heats. The $25, 000-to-the-winner of the Group 2 Globe Memorial Easter Chase (720m) is just so attractive for these stayers.

The on-course box draw was delivered and several greyhounds like Dashing Corsair and Lochinvar Vouge got certain edge for this in a way.

Dashing Corsair is a popular stayer, a former national sprint champion. And this Queenslander is just the fastest qualifier after winning a heat with a very competitive time of 42.10 Saturday night.

While Lochinvar Vouge is also a popular stayer, and indeed very much associated with Robert Smith. This Newcastle-based is another heat winner with a time of 42.20.

Dashing Corsair is now no doubt the fastest qualifier with a time of 42.10. He was able to turn tables on Australia’s no.1 stayer Drill ‘Em. Of course, his trainer was delighted with what the stayer has accomplished.

“I’m pretty happy with the run,” Dwyer Lennon said in an interview. “I’d be happy with him if he runs the same time (next week). I think they’re all pretty evenly matched and I think it’s whoever gets the luck on the night. The last couple of times Drill ‘Em has been in front and this time he (Dashing Corsair) was in front.”

While Peter Darroch of Globe Memorial has recently expressed that the Globe Memorial Easter Chase has been one of Australia’s best events and that it will always be a pleasure for him to support it most especially with the best stayers being around.
