2010 Devonport Cup Conquered by Gardam Prince

Gardam PrinceOne of the much-awaited greyhound racing events of this year, the 2010 Dowling McCarthy Hankook Tyres Devonport Cup (Group Three), was just conquered last Tuesday by Gardam Prince. The prolific winner run away with the event’s cash prize of $25,000, thus taking his career total to 30 wins from 42 starts.

Gardam Prince just won in the Shepparton Cup when he conquered the 2010 Devonport Cup. Having two consecutive wins is indeed an achievement.

The prolific winner started as $1.90 favorite from Box Two and seriously looked around to find the rails however must have realized that it won’t be easy for him with the $3.00 favorite, Topline Doovee, from Box One.

As expected, the two crowd darlings battled against each other before Darren McDonald’s blue star was able to cross Topline Doovee just around the top turn. And right there, nothing seemed to catch him though Rulla Shar, $29.30 favorite, appeared as eager to get a place.

Gardam Prince seemed not that lucky to be successful once again on the Apple Isle as he caught huge interference on his heat in Hobart Thousand, just as he was trying to take the lead. A come back to the mainland saw him beaten by one of the most talented racers, Turanza Bale, at Geelong, prior to his return at Devonport Cup.

McDonald’s believes that Gardam Prince is one of the best one-bend sprinters of the contemporary times and the greyhound’s heat and final win just justify it. Both his victories re-affirm opinion of McDonald.

Gardam Prince might have more wins and belief on his racing power might be even more justified. Thus, all of his fans and bettors who have been placing bets on him should watch out for these. Surely, more to come in the near future.
