Mr Issues Won Betfair Young Star Classic

Mr Issues made a lot of bettors feel bad for not supporting him when he won the Betfair Young Star Classic over 461 meters at Tattersall’s Park Wednesday night. Many bettors did not support him despite him going to the final with three successive wins, not to mention that it included a brilliant Young Star heat win. Instead the bettors supported the Gary Greig-trained duo of Octane Assassin and Showtime which did not actually make it.

Gary Johnson has been the trainer of Mr Issues for some time now. And the trainer has only good things to say for the runner.

Johnson said: “I knew this dog had a future from the first time I slipped him at Devonport not long after he arrived in my kennel. He progressed nicely and he has faultless manners which is one of his biggest assets.”

And Allison Haustein has been the owner of Mr Issues. Haustein bought the dog from breeder Barry Heawood.

Haustein said: “I was in a relationship that involved greyhounds and while that relationship is no longer I was determined to get more involved with greyhounds because they are such wonderful animals. I went to Barry Heawood to buy a pup and I ended up buying two. I bought Mr Issues (Big Daddy Cool-Teandee Mist) and I also bought a pup by Collision from Regent Ebony and he is named Pantry Pat and is owned by my son Andrew Dixon.”

Currently, Mr Issues has a record of six wins out of 12 starts with three minor placings. Of course, the runner will go a long way. He will have more wins and more placings, minor or major. And naturally, the runner will have more accomplishments with help of these two good people, Johnson and Haustein. He will be good with help of the two.

Smith Disappointed With L&Q Not Meeting Morton

Duncan Smith has been seriously supporting SOS campaign for some time now. And with London & Quadrant not meeting Bob Morton, Smith failed not to give reaction to what happened. The British politician actually expressed his disappointment with L&Q deciding not to meet the three-time Derby-winning owner when he actually encouraged the two sides to meet for possible good land deal.

According to reports, L&Q wanted more details of the bid before meeting can happen. Morton recently revealed a bid for the land.

Smith said: “I’m disappointed that L&Q has decided not to meet Bob Morton to discuss his offer in more depth, particularly in the light of my conversation with the chief executive of L&Q, who assured me that he would take seriously any offers made for the site. I urge L&Q to follow through on this promise and meet Bob Morton as soon as possible.”

Well, since after Stow was sold to L&Q by the owning Chandler family, Smith has been a determined supporter of the SOS campaign. The British politician has been doing certain things just to help in the campaign. And recently, he tried to urge L&Q and Morton to meet after a bid for the land was introduced. He encouraged the two sides to meet to talk about the bid and maybe have settlement. Thus, many people understood why Smith failed not to give reaction to what happened. He has been into the SOS campaign and he has been doing certain things just to extend help. However, L&Q opted not to meet Morton though actually chief executive of L&Q once assured him any offers made for the site will be taken seriously. It was disappointing for the British politician and we feel that L&Q understood if he failed not to give reaction to what happened.

Mr. Metz Won Group 3 Townsville Cup

Trainer Ron Ball was really happy to see Mr. Metz claiming the victory in the $16,000-to-the-winner Group 3 Townsville Cup of 498m to actually add another Group race win to their already great record. The greyhound actually started as the hot favorite and jumped perfectly from box six to secure the lead and beat Terrific Style. Mr. Metz has beaten Terrific Style by three lengths.

My Boy Monty was a further two and a half lengths away in third when the race ended. Terrific Style and My Boy Monty are both trained by Tom Noble.

For many greyhound racing enthusiasts who were there in the event, boom Queensland sprinter Mr. Metz was so good to have beaten his own record at same track and distance. Mr. Metz won in 28.87, having 0.9 of a second off his past record.

As of now, Mr. Metz has won 16 of own 22 career starts. And the most recent win of the runner granted trainer and Bill Crooks back-to-back Townsville Cup victory. Last year’s edition was won by Ryan’s A Rocket.

After the great performance in the $16,000-to-the-winner Group 3 Townsville Cup of 498m, Mr. Metz was prepared for Newcastle’s heats of the Group 2 Black Top of 515m.

Well, many fans of Mr. Metz anticipated that the runner will deliver another brilliant performance in Newcastle’s heats of the Group 2 Black Top of 515m. And the runner really has the ability to impress a lot of fans with another amazing performance. Credit should go to his trainer and even owner. The two have been serious about watching over the runner. They have been very determined to ensure the runner’s form is really good for him to be capable of delivering brilliant performance. Another Inquiry on Cawbourne Bolt Positive Swab Made

Yes, another inquiry on positive swab of Cawbourne Bolt to a metabolite of cocaine was made recently and it was determined that Mr Stuart Dickinson was really guilty of presenting the runner in a race and that the sample taken has Benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of Cocaine. Also through the inquiry, it was determined that Dickinson was the trainer of the greyhound in race in question. It was actually questioned who really was the trainer of the greyhound.

Stewards made investigation on the Cawbourne Bolt positive swab case for four times. First was on March 30, 2010, second on April 29, 2010, third on June 22, 2010 and fourth on August 16, 2010. But it seems that it will be tackled a couple of times more before a final decision is determined.

Still it must be determined if the positive swab source was really contamination of the greyhound in question by a kennel hand just like what a close insider said to the Australian Racing Greyhound. Way back in 2005, a Gai Waterhouse trained horse turned a positive swab to Cocaine but later was found to be because of contamination from a stable hand.

GRNSW admitted that the penalty was not yet determined because GRNSW Stewards still wanted to consider the detailed submissions from Dickinson’s legal counsel. Stewards wanted to be sure that right penalty will be given. Everything must be considered before the Stewards determine the penalty for Dickinson.

After GRNSW Stewards put into consideration the detailed submissions from Dickinson’s legal counsel, an announcement on penalty can already be expected to take place soon. For sure, a lot of greyhound racing enthusiasts have been wondering what will actually happen to Dickinson after sample was taken from Cawbourne Bolt which was thought to have contained something like Benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of Cocaine.

SA Bred Greyhounds Made It to Nationals Events

A lot of greyhound racing enthusiasts now consider the 2010 TattsBet.com Nationals a success and the credit must go to some SA Bred greyhounds. GRSA has been actually greatly involved with strategies that help improve SA breeding. There has been the Maiden Breeders Bonus, the SA Bred Bonus Scheme and the SA Bred Futurity events which GRSA has been supporting. And six SA Bred greyhounds made it to two Nationals events.

GRSA must be very happy with the accomplishment of SA Bred greyhounds in the 2010 TattsBet.com Nationals. Their accomplishment seemed a proof to GRSA that it has been right all along to support such group of greyhounds. GRSA has been truly involved with strategies that can help improve SA breeding. There has been the Maiden Breeders Bonus, the SA Bred Bonus Scheme and the SA Bred Futurity events. And being greatly involved with them must be just right for GRSA. The SA Bred greyhounds actually made it to the two events and GRSA just helped them to.

Sitka Made It to National Distance Championship

Greyhound stayer Sitka made trainer Mick Louth so happy with victory that would bring her to the National Distance Championship in South Australia.

Sitka came out from box six just right to get the lead and ended up making it against the race favorite Posh Di. Well, she was only second to Posh Di in their heat but then her trainer said that the bitch was not in form when they competed.

Louth said: “I was a bit worried last week because her weight was up and she was off colour on the day of the heat but she got through it. She recovered well and tonight she delivered what I expected. I had her earmarked for this race last year but I couldn’t get enough lead-up races into her so I opted not to proceed.”

Louth admitted that Sitka was sent to Western Australia in the summer to be prepared for an encounter at the National Distance series.

Louth said: “I took her to Perth as a travelling companion for my sprinter Koocanusa but she ended up winning two feature races and holds almost every split record a Cannington and one at Mandurah. Her box manners are impeccable and that’s going to hold her in god stead in the National final.”

Also, Louth admitted that Sitka would see the South Australian trainer Bosco Stamekovic for the preparation for the big event. Sitka must get the perfect training for the final and Louth would bring Sitka to Stamekovic for the trainer would help in giving the perfect training to the greyhound.

Well, we just hope for the best for Louth as well as greyhound Sitka. May they actually succeed. They have been working hard to become winners in greyhound racing and so we believe they just deserve to become successful.

Oxford Will Make Sure Historic Events Will Not Die

Oxford spokesman Mick Wheble recently announced that Oxford will not allow that historic events such as Scurry Gold Cup and Gold Collar die. The spokesman said that Oxford with the help of its bookmakers will make sure that these historic events will continue being a part of the big industry.

Wheble said that track bookmakers will find the money to support Scurry Gold Cup and Gold Collar. Oxford bookmakers will not allow that these events will die.

Wheble admitted that historic events should not die. They should continue to be a part of the huge industry they have been actually a part for a period of time.

The Oxford spokesman said: “Obviously it would need to be cleared with senior GRA management, but we’d be happy to step in and run the competitions here if no-one else was interested in doing so. It would mean reduced prize-money, £1,000 to the winner of each, but at least that would be better than letting such historic events die.”

Some will not be happy about the events’ prize money being reduced. But then what will matter for Oxford is that the historic events will still be a part of the big industry. So whatever the effect of reducing the prize money will be will not be a big thing for Oxford. Oxford will only care about the historic events continuing as part of the industry they have been a part for period of time.

Oxford will do anything just to make sure that the historic events will not die. They are important events that should not die and be experienced in many years to come. Oxford with the help of its bookmakers will ensure that these historic events will still be available in many years to come for everyone’s enjoyment. We hope that they will succeed.

Group Two Multicam Black Top Hopefuls Battled at The Gardens

Some hopefuls for the much-awaited $35,000 to the winner Group Two Multicam Black Top battled at The Gardens in the race six, the Multicam Nearing Stake over 515 meters. Present to race in the said event were local stars New Divide, Rachel Robbo and Devine Ruler. They raced with Northern NSW visitor, Hanify’s Forte. Hanify’s Forte is trained by Colin Graham.

After the retirement of Take The Kitty recently, New Divide earned the spot as master trainer Ken Cheetham’s kennel star. New Divide has proven himself ready to belong to the elite level by succeeding in the Group Two Peter Mosman Final.

Cheetham said: “I think he’ll (New Divide) be hard to beat today and he can measure up in the Black Top.”

However, the event was not an easy event for one to dominate with Rachael Robbo in trap seven and Devine Ruler from the outside. Rachael Robbo was capable of delivering speedy performance and Devine Ruler same kind of performance after improving form in Patrick Parrelli kennel.

At The Gardens, Rachael Robbo has won 11 races over three distances, 413, 515 and 600 meters. She was seriously prepared by trainers for another victory before she actually starts a new career as a mother.

Rachael Robbo’s co-trainer Gary Robertson said: “I’m happy with the way she has freshened up after a couple of weeks off. She’s only got a couple of starts left in her I don’t like to over race the girls and try to restrict them to around 40 starts. It will be a nice way to finish her race track career, in a Group race at The Gardens.”

The Group Two Multicam Black Top heats will take place on August 28 just like the Group One National Championships at Angle Park in Adelaide. The $35,000 to the winner final will take place a week after.

Cosmic Chief Will Be Representing Victoria

Yes, it is confirmed that Cosmic Chief will be representing Victoria at the National Sprint Championship in Adelaide. This greyhound intensely won the Victorian Final at Sandown Park and so was the perfect representative of Victoria at the big event at Angle Park in Adelaide on August 28.

Cosmic Chief started so well from box 3 and continued to race just right to beat Iceman Raikkonen by 3.75 lengths in 29.61. Kennel and littermate Cosmic Planet completed the race in third, a further half length away.

The success of Cosmic Chief took own record to 15 wins from 39 starts and own prize money to more than $132,000. The victory also blew away Brown, with first ever Group 1 finalist.

Heather Collins trained Arsonist will be joining Cosmic Chief in Adelaide for the National Sprint Championship. Arsonist, earlier found it hard to make it and eventually finished fourth, however still managed to continue to the $50,000 to the winner final.

Darren McDonald’s four time Group race winner Pure Octane won the 2005 National Sprint Championship title at Wentworth Park. And Victoria will be into its 13th National Sprint Championship and first since 2005 when Pure Octane won National Sprint Championship title at Wentworth Park.

The National Sprint Championship Grand Final will take place at Angle Park in Adelaide on August 28.

Well, people of Victoria must be happy to have Cosmic Chief to represent their place at the National Sprint Championship in Adelaide. This greyhound delivered a great performance in the Victorian Final at Sandown Park and so can also perform well at Angle Park in Adelaide. And people of Victoria will be so proud to have Cosmic Chief as their representative. They will also feel just lucky to have the greyhound for the National Sprint Championship at Angle Park in Adelaide.

National Distance State Heat Declared “No Race”

Last week at Angle Park, the Race 3, the TattsBett.com National Distance State Heat 1 was declared a “No Race” because of the conflicting distance of the lure from the greyhound on the lead. During the race, jaws of the carriage seemed incorrectly engaging which then displaced the cable and caused the lure driver to lose control.

And after the TattsBett.com National Distance State Heat 1 was declared a “No Race”, the Stewards talked to all trainers and eventually came up with a decision to have a public ballot to determine the State Final qualifiers.

The Stewards then made a public ballot and the four qualifiers for the State Final which will be on August 19 were determined. The reserve was also drawn, the fifth greyhound.

The qualifiers were determined as No Way Aaron, Tafari Bale, Snow Kist, Don’t Tell Kerry and Hannah’s Jinx as the reserve.

Texas Tiger was able to record a time of 44.08 in running fifth in the second Distance Heat and so qualified as reserve. While Hannah’s Jinx was not able to record a time because of event declared as “No Race”. Because Texas Tiger was able to record a time, it was decided that he will be the 1st reserve and then Hannah’s Jinx will be the 2nd reserve.

Due to the conflicting distance of the lure from the greyhound on the lead, last week at Angle Park, the Race 3, the TattsBett.com National Distance State Heat 1 was declared a “No Race”. Some were dismayed with what happened but then at least the Stewards acted immediately to have the State Final qualifiers determined. Trainers were interviewed by the Stewards and eventually it was decided to have a public ballot to determine the State Final qualifiers. And the qualifiers were revealed to be No Way Aaron, Tafari Bale, Snow Kist, Don’t Tell Kerry and Hannah’s Jinx as the reserve.
